You are required to take extreme caution even while doing simple tasks like combing hair. After about six weeks, you can go back to complete normalcy, including sports activities and exercising.

WHEN SHOULD I VISIT THE DOCTOR AFTER  DISCHARGE?

You must come for scheduled follow-ups after discharge with your surgeon to check sutures’ healing, bleeding from the sutures, and any other unexpected discomfort. All care is to be followed, as advised by your surgeon.

During the follow-up visits, the doctor will assess the recovery and advise until you have to keep wearing the bandage.

WHAT POSSIBLE SIDE-EFFECTS & COMPLICATIONS CAN I EXPECT FROM THIS SURGERY?

One of the common post-surgery effects seen is the burning sensation and pain in the operated area, and Painkillers are prescribed to deal with this. Acute pain may be experienced sometimes, which will subside over five days.

Also, in some cases, though the sutures are self-dissolving, remnants are seen after a few days, which can cause discomfort. When you come for a follow-up, the surgeon will physically remove these.

There may be more scarring in a few cases than usual due to the skin type and scar hypertrophy. For this, a cream is prescribed, which has to be applied for a few months to minimize scarring.

If you increase your activity level much before you get permission from the surgeon, you may damage the sutures and bleed. The doctors will check this during your follow-up visits.
